Dick
Sweeps USCC Drummer's Diesel Grand Cities 100
|
Grand Forks,
ND (February 13, 2010) - The day was forecast for wind
and snow that never came, but Arctic Cat rider Brian Dick brought
a storm of his own to the USCC Drummer's Diesel Grand Cities 100 in
Grand Forks, ND., sweeping the Pro classes. The Grand Cities 100 course
was virtually the same as last year and consisted of a 10-mile lap
with woods, river and open areas. Deep snow resulted in a whooped-out
course even early on in the day and the river didn't develop an ice
groove until mid-day.
Early in the day
during the parade lap a fine snow stuck to riders' goggles and formed
ice, hampering the riders' visibility. But even before the first race
of the day the snow began to let up and racing went on without problems.
Dick began the day by winning the Fox Racing Shox Pro Open class (21:26.374),
putting 10 seconds in his teammate D.J. Ekre (21:37.042). Polaris
rider Aaron Christensen (21:54.854) finished third and Yamaha rider
Ross Erdman finished fourth (21:56.459).
Ryan Greening
By the time the
FXR Pro 600 race rolled around the skies had thinned and some sun
was poking through. Visibility was nearly ideal for the Pro riders
to negotiate the course and Dick made the most of it, putting time
on the field almost from the first of the five lap race. But Christensen
stuck with him, almost matching the Arctic Cat rider's lap times.
At the end of the race Dick had sealed the win by a mere second with
a time of 56:47.193 to Christensen's 56:48.653. D.J. Ekre came in
third (58:23.266) and Chad Lian came in fourth (1:01:04.448) followed
by Cody Kallock (1:02:54.315) and Nick Roehl (1:03:22.871).

Arctic Cat rider
Ryan Greening won the ArcticFX Semi-Pro 600 class with a time of 1:00:32.854,
besting Polaris rider Ryan Faust (1:02:25.079) by nearly two seconds.
Arctic Cat rider Jeremy Tulenchik came in third (1:02:42.818). Chad
Kyllo won the AMSOIL Semi-Pro Improved class with a time of 22:43.866.
