Dick Declared Winner Of USCC Red Lake I-500
Day 3 Called Due To Weather

Falls, Minn. (January 23, 2011) - The third and final day of the
USCC National Guard Cross-Country Snowmobile Championship Seven Clans
Red Lake I-500 dawned overcast and not as bitterly cold as the first
two days with temps hovering around zero Fahrenheit. However, strong
winds and blowing snow was causing whiteout conditions in many areas
of the course and course markers were being blown down on all parts
of the course forcing the USCC to make a tough decision to call the
final day of the race and declare the Day 2 race standings the final
results. With that, Arctic Cat rider Brian Dick was declared the winner.
"It was a
tough decision for us to make," said USCC President Pat Mach.
"Everyone here came to race, but with the conditions the way
they are it becomes a huge safety issue."
Conditions were
expected to get worse as the day wore on with snow squalls moving
in and out of the area throughout the day.
Dick's two day
winning time of 4:57:05.000 was 4:34.000 better than second place
Arctic Cat rider Ryan Simons, a difference that would have been next
to impossible for him to make up without Dick running into trouble.
Third place Arctic Cat rider Zach Pattyn ended up 9:21.000 out of
first place; after Pattyn came Cat rider Cory Davis (10:29.000 out),
Ski-Doo rider Ross Erdman (10:34.000 out), Polaris rider Aaron Christensen
(11:04.000 out), Polaris rider Corey Davidson (11:49.000 out) and
Polaris rider Justin Tate (17:45.000 out). Other notables include
last year's winner Dan Ebert in 11th place, 21:03.000 out of first
place and Gabe Bunke in 12th place 21:47.000 behind first place.
Arctic Cat rider
Ryan Greening sits atop the time charts in the Ski-Doo Semi-Pro 600
class with a two-day time of 5:18:20.000. Greening was over 14-minutes
ahead of second place rider Ken Christensen and over 16 minutes ahead
of third place rider Mike Hedlund.
Other class winners
