USCC Racing Update, December 21

Minto, ND (December 21, 2011) - With conditions not adequate for a USCC race in the Grafton/Minto area and not looking to improve prior to the races scheduled for December 31/January 1, it is possible that the USCC will have to postpone the Grafton 100 and the Minto 100. The circuit will make that announcement as soon as possible because we know there are a lot of racers who have hotels and flights booked and those will need to be cancelled and/or rescheduled.

That brings us to the next weekend on the schedule, which is the Red Lake I-500, January 13-15. If conditions don't improve before this race the event will be moved to one of the following backup dates, February 10-12 or February 17-19. Again, we will make an announcement regarding this decision with as much lead time as possible. However, regarding that date, everyone should know there will be an event on the weekend of January 14-15 no matter what. We are working on securing backup venues and depending on conditions this may or may not end up being an ice race, or mostly ice race. USCC will make a venue and race format announcement with as much time as possible in order for racers to prepare for the type of event planned.

As for the schedule as a whole, the goal right now is to keep the same number of events on the schedule and find dates for them. USCC is not looking to cancel any events at this time.

"This is a seat-of-the-pants deal right now," said USCC Race Director Jesse Strege. "When everything goes according to plan it goes nice and smooth, but now we've had a huge wrench thrown in the works by mother nature. It's not easy securing new venues when you only have a couple weeks to do so. Usually it takes months to do something like that, but we're doing the best we can to find a place to go racing."

USCC asks racers to watch the USCC Web site, www.usccracing.com, as well as the USCC Facebook page for any updates. When we know, you'll know.
